Credit Report Errors and Optimization

About Credit Reports > Credit Report Errors and Optimization

Ideally, your credit report is an accurate, up-to-date reflection of your credit history. However, since we don't live in an ideal world, there are many reasons that your credit report could contain inaccuracies that might prevent you from receiving the credit you deserve. Therefore you should check your credit report regularly to spot and correct inaccurate information (79% of credit reports contain errors).

Some Companies claim they can "repair" your credit. Credit can only be fixed with long term fiscal responsibility. When companies say "repair" what they really mean is not to repair your credit but to repair and remove errors and inaccuracies on your credit report.  If you want help removing errors or inaccuracies from your credit report click here

Here you will find information about how to spot and fix errors on your credit report, as well as ways to optimize your credit rating. Having a good credit score is important! Your Credit Score may determine how much interest you’ll pay on a loan, the higher the score, the lower your interest.
Credit Scores Range from 620 to 850. The US average credit score is 678.

Basic Ratings (Credit Scores)
Excellent: 750-850
Good: 660-749
Fair: 620-659
US average credit score: 678
The range of credit scores is from 850 (excellent) to 620 (fair). In addition to the range of credit scores... having no (inadequate) credit is not much better than having poor credit.

If a creditor has no information then most likely you have no financial history on record. In order to improve your credit, you will need to get a financial history. This can be done by getting a credit card, establish a balance, and make your payments on time and pay off the balance completely. You can also get a small loan and pay it off to improve your credit as well.  If you have never had a credit card or have never paid off a loan it may be hard to get a credit card or a loan (catch-22). A secured loan, or a secured credit card, once the balance is paid off can help you get over this hurdle.
